Religon

Growing up I went to Hebrew school like most Jewish kids in my neighborhood. I remember complaining about having to go. Just like my little sisters complain. Spending 6 hours in regular school and then going of to 2 hours of Hebrew 3 times a week was not very fun. The only thing I remember about Hebrew school was learning Hebrew. I do not remember anyone teaching us about the Torah or the religion in general. I really think that Hebrew schools need to re-make their lesson plans and teach both Hebrew and the religion. Now as a young adult I have so many questions about the religion, but no Rabbi or Bible study group to go to. I am somewhat envious of my Christian friend who have hundreds of churches to choose from here in Southern Illinois. Not only do they have all these churches to go to, they also have bible study groups. Tons of them! Everyday of the week it seems and what ever time suites you. I sometimes find myself wanting to go to these groups but then I realize that they focus on the Second Testament. I really hope to find a Synagogue that has a bible study group. I really want to learn about the Torah, Tallmud, Tunach, and the Siddur.

I love talking religion to people of other religions and sects. But, when I discuss something I want to know what I am talking about. When people of other faiths ask me about Judaism and I can not give them an answer and it saddens me because they usually know so much about their religion.

So, in conclusion, I hope that the Army will send me to a place that has a synagogue with a bible study group so i can learn more about the religion I care about so much.
